Troutman pleads guilty to second-degree assault in Edina hit-and-run

On August 7, Carlton Troutman was sentenced to 365 days in jail for second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. He also received three years of probation.

Carlton Troutman pleaded guilty to second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon for a January 23 hit-and-run collision in Edina when his car struck a 17-year-old girl as she attempted to board a school bus, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Monday. He will be sentenced August 7 at 10:30 a.m.

On March 11, a warrant was issued for the 26-year-old Troutman, of Flint, MI, after he fled Minnesota following the hit-and-run incident. He was arrested in Michigan on March 13, and brought back to Minnesota March 26.

At the time of the accident, the victim was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. She has since made a strong recovery.
